Hola! and Happy New Year to our dear friends and family.
We arrived back in Brisbane on Friday 15 January, having left exactly four weeks previously for a cruise from Santiago de Chile to Buenos Aires, with a pre-cruise stopover in Santiago and a post cruise excursion to Iguassu Falls. We’re not home home yet because of an overrun on the bathroom renovations but we hope to be back in the house tomorrow. We spent Christmas, New Year and Doug’s birthday on board the beautiful MS Zaandam.
My dears, we had a blast. Seriously. And it will take many posts to cover it all, so be patient. But briefly:
- number of trips and falls by Chris – 2
- number of sprained ankles by Chris – 1
- number of bruises by Chris – too many to count
- number of desserts eaten by Douglas – ditto
- New Years rung in – one!
- number of icebergs seen – thousands!
- number of glaciers seen – a couple of hundred
- number of whales – about a hundred
- numbers of penguins – thousands!
- number of fridge magnets purchased – look, they were all for other people, all right?
- number of pisco sours drunk – not enough
- number of coatis at Iguassu smarter than their ‘raccoon proof’ rubbish bins – all of them, Katie
- number of photos taken – approximately 5,152
- number of photos taken when photographer was dressed like this – a lot
- photos taken while photographer was wearing somewhat less than this – not saying 🙂
- number of minds in this household blown by all we saw – two
We aren’t going to post all the photos, I’m sure you’re glad to hear. But I plan to post a good many, and this may have to wait until we are home home. However, we saw this:
and this
and this

As well as many, many boats, trains, and planes which we photographed for my little friends next door 🙂
So keep watching! All the posts for this trip can be found here.
