Antarctica – Day One, 30 December

Advised schedule for Day One:

  • 2pm Dallman Bay
  • 2.30pm Canal Schollaert
  • 3.30pm Gerlache Strait
  • 4.30 Neumayer Channel
  • 7.30pm Anvers Island

This was my first glimpse of Antarctica, at 6 am on 30 December:

It’s impossible to fully express how majestic and gorgeous the scenery was, how perfect the weather, how still and beautiful the sea was. We barely dared to stop to pee or eat, and we took turns at the camera so we didn’t miss a thing.

And yet some people preferred to talk in a windowless room. Nuts!

    1. We had unbelievable good fortune with the weather and a captain smart enough to make sure we got to enjoy it, that’s for sure.
