Despite the fact we came home with our full duty free allowance of alcohol, we actually spent more on other stuff, like gifts for other people, and pretties for us. These are the ones we kept. Sorry about the inferior photography. I hope it conveys something of the quality.
Japanese zodiac animals were everywhere. I have a weakness for mice, rabbits, and glassware, and the little cow was irresistable 🙂
The Kanazawa Arts and Crafts museum yielded these chopstick rests and three teeny little painted birds
As I mentioned in my Hakata post, we spent a fair bit on porcelain
These were the rabbits that the lady ran all the way after our bus for!
You can see the fourth plate in the series, the irises, as it’s mounted on our bathroom wall. My individual photo came out blurred and I am too lazy to get the ladder out again rephotograph it 🙂
Remember I said I had to have my own tanuki? Here he is 🙂
I would never have pegged you for a knick-knack person.:) But those are some really cute things you got. If I were a knick-knack person, I’d probably have a lot of celadon too. The kitties and bunnies are very sweet.
I’m impressed because whenever I bring things home from a trip, something always gets broken in the suitcase.
“I would never have pegged you for a knick-knack person”
I’m not really. I think of them as little works of art. Can’t justify big stuff but we can buy prints and little animal sculptures which don’t take up much room and don’t burden our poor legatees!
